#KiniNews: Anwar to be guest of honour at Umno AGM, leaders of parties in govt also invited

[KiniNews] More than two decades after he was removed from Umno, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will once again be present at an Umno general assembly, but this time as a guest of honour.

Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said Anwar will be present for the opening session on June 9 alongside leaders from all 19 component parties across four coalitions in government.

“This will be a historical moment, for all various parties that form the government to attend the Umno AGM,” said Asyraf during a press conference at the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

The Umno AGM will begin on June 7 with the official opening for the Umno Youth, Wanita Umno and Puteri Umno assemblies, which will be held the next day.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be delivering his keynote address on June 9, followed by debates and winding-up speeches on June 10.
