[KiniNews] The decision on former premier Najib Abdul Razak’s application for a royal pardon will be announced this week, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territory) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
"God willing, it will be announced this week. Be patient," she said.
On Tuesday, Zaliha, who is a member of the Pardons Board, confirmed that a decision had been made and that a statement would be issued, but did not say when exactly it would be revealed.
Yesterday, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil separately told the media that the cabinet had discussed Najib’s pardon bid, but refused to reveal the outcome as it was not their prerogative.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, Bersatu information chief Razali Idris has lambasted Fahmi for failing to play his role as the spokesperson for the coalition government.
Razali questioned Fahmi’s role after a Singapore-based media company reported that Najib's prison term for corruption was reduced from 12 to six years by the Pardons Board.
