While Laura apologized in video form several days after the scandal broke, a lot of people called her out for being insincere and simply saying sorry because she got caught. So, she’s since deleted the video and posted another one to replace it. And this time around, she maintained her composure and owned up to her mistakes.
In a video posted on Tuesday, she said
“I owe you guys a sincere apology. In that video I come off more as a victim; I am not a victim in any way, form or fashion in this situation.”
She continued QUOTE “I take full responsibility for the things that I retweeted and the things that I tweeted six and a half years ago. I am truly sorry. I have changed so much as a human being in the past six and a half years; I have grown so much and have gained so much knowledge and respect. I know that prejudice and stereotypes are not funny ever in any way, fashion or form. I know that is nothing to joke about and I understand that.”
Laura said she took the time off to reflect on the past and think about her future as an influencer, including the responsibilities she needs to take on from here on out.
She explained QUOTE “Through the situation I have grown, and I have learned so much, and I’m going to continue to learn and grow. I literally have millions of people watching me. I am a role model, and I have to stand for more, and I have to do a better job.”
Laura also acknowledged that the beauty community has been pretty drama-filled lately, herself included, but she claimed she’s going to try to fix things and get things back to how they used to be.
She said
“I want to help this whole community that right now is not in a good place to turn it around and put it in a beautiful place where we come to beauty to grow together and to feel good again.”
The Alabama native said she also wants to show subscribers the things that don’t involve makeup but rather the QUOTE “growing as a human and being a good person” she did while she was away from YouTube.
At the end of the video, she implied that new videos would be coming soon, but not everyone is happy to see her back on YouTube. But what do you guys think? Do you believe Laura’s apology, and will you watch her new videos? Let us know down in the comments. Thanks for watching Clevver News; I’m your host, Naz Perez.
