Logan Paul returns to YouTube with a video about suicide prevention...
And the internet has a lot of feelings about it.
After taking a three week hiatus from YouTube, Logan Paul is back on the platform and sharing a video that is clearly an attempt to atone for the huge mistake he made with his last Vlog.
Logan had received MAJOR backlash for that previous Vlog, in which he showed the dead body of a suicide victim in Japan. People all over social media to condemn him for the offensive and insensitive video, and many even called for his removal from YouTube altogether.
Despite deleting the video and releasing two apologies after the backlash, the damage had already been done, and Logan announced that he was taking a break from Vlogging. It’s been about three weeks since that announcement, and today he posted his first video since his forced-hiatus. The new Vlog, called “Suicide: Be Here Tomorrow”, is shot and edited like a documentary, and it’s all about suicide education and prevention. In the video, Logan meets with a man who survived a suicide attempt, as well as experts on mental health issues and suicide.
In the Vlog, Logan also shared 5 steps for preventing suicide, which he’d learned from one of the experts he spoke with.
In addition to sharing what he learned from the various people he met with, Logan also pledged to donate $1 million dollars to suicide prevention organizations, with $250,000 of that immediately going to the National Suicide Prevention lifeline.
The Vlog received mixed reactions from social media, to say the least. One person tweeted QUOTE, “Whatever logan Paul does he’ll always be that person that went inside a suicide forest and made jokes, whatever he does that’ll always be there”. Another pointed out QUOTE, “I was watching that new Logan Paul video and it took him...less than a minute to mention himself in a video about suicide survivors.”
But there were also those who saw Logan’s Vlog as a step in the right direction. One user tweeted QUOTE, “logan paul made a good comeback to youtube, his video was very moving. its so nice to see him educating himself and using his platform to educate others on such a huge topic. nicely done @LoganPaul”, and another shared support saying QUOTE, “I’m so glad Logan Paul hasn’t just ignored this all and continued vlogging, what he did will never be okay or forgiven but what he’s done now is using his power to help other people and I think that’s the best he can do”.
Okay guys now I definitely want to hear your thoughts on Logan’s suicide prevention Vlog--do you think it’s a sincere effort in the right direction, or do you think he’s just trying to save his brand and multi-million dollar media empire? Or kind of a bit of both? Sound off in the comments below, and after that click right over here to see Jake Paul defend his brother. And don’t forget to subscribe.
