The call for Logan Paul’s YouTube ban has been a popular topic among the Internet, but now YouTube’s CEO is speaking out on why the plug on his channel hasn’t been pulled just yet.
And according to the CEO, we should all stop trying to make Logan’s ban happen, because it’s not going to happen.
I know, I know – you’re dying for further explanation as to why Logan Paul’s channel hasn’t yet been banned from YouTube following his suicide forest video controversy. Say no more, because YouTube’s CEO Susan Wojcicki laid it all out for us during a media conference just yesterday in wake of YouTube’s new punishment for creators who upload harmful content.
YouTube has already pulled the ads from Logan’s channel even after he issued multiple apologies, including a suicide PSA, but lo and behold, Logan’s channel isn’t going anywhere, and here’s why. According to Wojcicki, Logan technically didn’t violate any specific policies when he uploaded the video showing footage of a person who committed suicide in the forest.
She said QUOTE, “He hasn’t done anything that would cause those three strikes. We can’t just be pulling people off our platform…They need to violate a policy. We need to have consistent rules. This is like a code of law.”
She went on to explain that what one person might think is “tasteless” is not necessarily what someone else would think is “tasteless”, adding, “We need to have consistent laws, so that in our policies, so we can apply it consistently to millions of videos, millions of creators.”
So if you were one of many who thought that because Logan is one of the more popular creators on the streaming site, he was getting let off easy, Wojcicki was quick to slam that theory, saying, “They might complain about that, but we try our very best to be consistent across everybody.”
It wasn’t until Logan uploaded a video last week tazing a dead rat when YouTube temporarily suspended paid advertising on his channel and removed him from Google’s Preferred Ads program, so he IS taking a hit on other consequences, but no matter how many petitions or retweets or desperate prayers may be sent, get used to seeing Logan’s channel up and running… for now.
So this seems like a good time to turn it over to you guys – do you agree that Logan hasn’t violated any policies, or do you think he should be kicked off YouTube for good?
