Logan Paul gets SLAMMED for posting a video of a suicide victim before quickly deleting the video and apologizing.
But this is not one of those things a quick delete and apology is going to fix…
Logan Paul published a vlog to his YouTube channel from a visit he and friends took to Japan’s “suicide forest”, at the edge of Mount Fuji. The place is an area that has been notorious for its popularity for people wanting to carry out a suicide. Logan filmed his visit to the site, and at one point he actually shows footage of a dead body with the face blurred. Naturally, thousands were outraged by the insensitive, disrespectful, and completely tone deaf video. Not only because Logan showed the body of a suicide victim, but also because he and his friends can be heard laughing throughout. The video was watched millions of times before Logan finally removed it, and posted an apology.
In one part of his apology, Logan wrote QUOTE, "I didn't do it for views. I get views. I did it because I thought I could make a positive ripple on the internet, not cause a monsoon of negativity. That's never the intention."
It’s hard to believe what positive ripple Logan thought the offensive video would create, but many Twitter users and celebs were NOT having it.
YouTuber Anna Akana, who lost her sister Kristina to suicide ten years ago, Tweeted QUOTE, “Dear @LoganPaul, When my brother found my sister's body, he screamed with horror & confusion & grief & tried to save her. That body was a person someone loved. You do not walk into a suicide forest with a camera and claim mental health awareness.”
Sophie Turner also gave Logan some strong words, Tweeting QUOTE, “You’re an idiot. You’re not raising awareness. You’re mocking. I can’t believe how self-praising your “apology” is. You don’t deserve the success (views) you have. I pray to God you never have to experience anything like that man did.”
And Aaron Paul, who is widely known as literally one of the nicest people in Hollywood, wrote QUOTE, “Dear @LoganPaul, How dare you! You disgust me. I can't believe that so many young people look up to you. So sad. Hopefully this latest video woke them up. You are pure trash. Plain and simple. Suicide is not a joke. Go rot in hell."
Wow. Hopefully some of these responses will make Logan realize the weight of his actions, and he’ll do more than just release an apology claiming he didn’t intend to bring about negativity. Oh, and as for his laughing in the video--Logan also claimed that was his QUOTE, “coping mechanism”. Yeah this guy definitely needs to get a new perspective.
