International investment law professor Gus Van Harten was one of three experts invited by Pakatan Rakyat to explain how the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) could compromise Malaysia's sovereignty. Van Harten dismissed the idea that a treaty like TPPA was needed to attract foreign investors as research has shown that investors usually disregard these treaties when making decisions.
