1D’s Liam Payne is going on the record to shut down claims he made a homophobic statement.
During a recent show on One Direction’s current tour, Liam was introducing the track Girl Almighty and some people took his statement as something other than what he meant.
And these words set the twittererse on fire – with people basically thinking his comments only included the heterosexual community and therefore were thought by some to be homophobic. Almost immediately, Liam felt the need to clarify what he said and who he is as a person. In a series of 8 tweets Liam said this: “LOL think some people take things too literal these days not gunna comment on it anymore you guys know what I meant. It was meant in general.” He then shut down the hate saying “I am in no way shape or form homophobic. That’s a ridiculous thing to say and I’m not here to offend people so take it as you will.” Obviously frustrated by the situation, he added “So annoying trying your hardest to make people happy in a how and you think about all the notes you tried to hit higher or a little sweeter and all some people want to concentrate on was a throw away statement about a song that I love.” To sum it up, Liam tweeted “Crap end to a good day.” The 1D lad lastly said “I’m sorry to those I offended really I am but there’s no need for some of the things I’m being called. I’m just here to make people smile. I kinda consider it my job role.”
.
