Lili Reinhart Opens Up About Dark Betty & Talks Shutting Down Body Shamers

Lili Reinhart opens up to Elle.com about clapping back at body shamers, Bughead shippers, and Dark Betty.
And we got all the juicy details.
According to Lili, the mystery of the Riverdale’s second season will be quite different from the first. This time, revolving around Betty and her mental health. As we got a taste of in season 1, Betty definitely has a dark side. And according to Lily, we will be seeing a lot more of it next season. Unfortunately, this may mean some rough waters for our favorite girl duo, Betty and Veronica. But not to worry, Lili added QUOTE "The friendship is still there; they're still a crime-fighting duo, which you see more of. I love having scenes with Cami [Mendes]. I know how much people love seeing Betty and Veronica together."
When asked about winning the Teen Choice Award for ‘Favorite TV Ship’ along with Cole Sprouse for Bughead, Lili said quote “The fact that we won is so flattering because I know we’re newbie’s to the group, and people are just starting [to know us]. But compared to the other couples that we were up against, the other ships, it was pretty amazing that we won, and it just shows how dedicated people are but also how much they like seeing these two characters together…”
Lili even spoke out about that time she clapped back at a body shamer on Twitter. In case you forgot, back in May, a troll tweeted at Lili saying QUOTE “I just don’t want your talent to be overshadowed by your weight” to which Lili cleverly responded “Thank you so much for being concerned about my weight, I’ll respond later after I finish my double cheeseburger.” But apparently due to her bluntness, she received some backlash. Apparently some people thought the actress was trying too hard to be “relatable.”
Lily shared her thoughts on this saying QUOTE “Some people say the things I do are annoying because I'm intentionally trying too hard to be relatable, but I'm really not. It's never really been my intention; I've never gone out of my way to be relatable to anyone. I just say what I want, and I'm pretty blunt about things.” Looks like she’s going to speak her mind, regardless of what the haters say. Just another reason we love Lili.
