Lorde had a secret Instagram for reviewing what?! Plus, she explains why she feels like fame could have f--ked her.
Lorde is officially back in the spotlight with a new album and a newly revealed secret Instagram handle...
Lorde went on the Tonight show to promote her new album, Melodrama, when Jimmy Fallon confronted her about the rumor that she has a secret Instagram handle called “Onion Rings Worldwide”, where she reviews onion rings from around the world. After some hemming and hawing, Lorde finally admitted that she is, indeed, the person behind Onion Rings Worldwide.
Lorde assured Jimmy that the handle was simply a funny thing she did while on tour for her and her friends, and she never meant for it to become a thing where she was trying to look relatable. Ironically her explanation that it WAS just a fun secret joke between friends makes her even more relatable. In addition to making her secret Insta handle confession, Lorde sang her latest single, Perfect Places, on the show.
Lorde also recently graced the cover of NME magazine to talk about her new album, and opened up about the downside of the fame that instantly hit her with the success of “Royals” and “Pure Heroine”. She told the mag QUOTE, "When it was happening, I was quite overwhelmed by it. But that was a long time ago. If anything, I’ve slowly been getting less famous since 'Royals' was really big, which is totally cool for me ... I suck at being famous. And that’s fine ... [Fame] rocked my foundations and could have f--ked me, you know? I remember being made aware of my looks and my body in a way that I had never been."
Rather than succumb to the dark side of fame like many young celebs before her, Lorde opted to shut away from the outside world and quietly work on “Melodrama” with producer Jack Antonoff. Clearly that seclusion paid off, because she’s absolutely killing it on every track on her sophomore album.
