But if you think there’s some sort of method, or publicist or purchasing of likes going on behind Selena’s Insta-fame, you’re sorely mistaken. The truth is really just simple.
One glance over a series of photos you just posed for, and you instantly know which photo looks totally Instagrammable. Believe it or not, same goes for Selena Gomez, the world’s most followed person on the social media site… Ok, so it might help that she is of celebrity status, but when it comes to what she posts on her page, she reveals that there really is no set method, saying QUOTE, “It comes in a moment when I capture something happening, and I go, 'Oh, that would be great for Instagram. I should post it.' I know it's boring, but that's genuinely what I do.”
And since bumping her bestie Taylor Swift from the top of the throne back in March, Sel’s 89 million followers has continued to grow, however, she admits that it was never her goal to be the most followerd person, but since the app is her fave social media platform, things just happened.
She also dished that being 100% yourself is the key to a successful post, saying, “I try to find a good balance of just being 100 percent myself and knowing when to post a really good selfie with good lighting.” And although you may think Sel has a perma-cameraman attached to her at all times, well… she kinda does. But that’s only because they’ve developed a special bond to which he knows how to shoot her organically and naturally on and off the stage.
But that doesn’t stop fans from questioning whether or not her Instagrams are ‘real’ or not, as Selena specifically referred to the time she was shot inside a grocery story on a shopping cart, which was nothing but the perfect shot on the stop for tour food. She revealed QUOTE, “We were in the grocery store, all shopping for the bus. I remember one of the comments said, 'I cannot believe she rented out the grocery store for a photo shoot,' and I died laughing. I was like, ‘Well, I didn't.’”
Sel shared even more secrets when she sat down with Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom and comedian Kevin Hart to discuss all things Instagram, in a game of ‘First Last Best Worst’ including their most used emojis and all the best filters. Check it out:
And when it comes to filters, Selena revealed that she loves to stick with the OG Nashville filter, while any filter that ‘lightens’ Kevin up does the trick for him. And be sure to listen very closely for these serious Instagram ‘don’ts’, courtesy of Selena and Kevin.
You heard ‘em guys: those ‘innocent’ likes and DMs could seriously cost you. But after the two revealed that everything they post is 100% their own, with no help from publicists or management, Sel and Kevin then dished their thoughts on Instagram memes made about them.
