Malaysia ranked 61st in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for 2018, and continued to strengthen its position in 2019, ranking 51st in the latest index.
This is Malaysia’s highest score on the CPI since 2012.
Among its Asean neighbours, Malaysia comes up behind Singapore and Brunei, ranked fourth and 35th respectively.
However, Malaysia is ahead of the other Asean countries, with the next closest being Indonesia at the 85th spot.
