Did Miles Teller really just say he felt dead inside when he was filming Divergent?!
Yes, we hate to be the bearers of bad news, but it looks like Miles just dissed the movie in a BIG way, and Clevver News has got all the details.
The actor – who I think is freaking cool and very talented, you know that he plays baddie Peter in the book-to-movie-adaptation of Veronica Roth’s dystopian trilogy… well, he recently got interviewed by W magazine where he revealed some interesting details about shooting the movie. Keep in mind that he’s currently promoting the drama Whiplash, which totally killed it at Sundance by the way, but here’s the quote about Divergent that’s being heard around the world:
"When I first read Whiplash, I was feeling dead inside. I didn’t have an interesting part [in Divergent], and I’d taken the film for business reasons: It was the first movie I’d done that was going to have an international audience. I called my agent and said, 'This sucks.'”
Dang Miles, tell us how you really feel!
However, in defense of Miles, Peter’s role in Divergent is really, really small compared to the book. Also, Peter’s role in the franchise will get much more beefed up in the following movies, so maybe it was just THAT particular first movie that he was feeling not so great about?
And since this story hit the web, Teller’s rep issued a response to the story QUOTE “Accustomed to being more involved in the process of filmmaking, Miles regrets those words. He does value his relationship with Lionsgate and his participation in the franchise.” We support this guy and he clearly didn’t mean to offend or anything with this statement, so just another example of how words can spread like wildfire these days and we just report every single thing related to Divergent, hence our story. But again, we are backing up Miles.
Either way, he’s got another big budget franchise under his belt, as he spent much of this year filming The Fantastic Four reboot – how freaking cool! – where he plays the main character Mr. Fantastic. And even though Miles has been taking on franchises, he also revealed in the interview that he would love to play Elvis Presley one day, and hopes to do a musical with Emma Watson… and for the latter dream come true, he did mention jokingly that his girl Shailene Woodley might get a bit jelly.
What do YOU think of Miles’ talk about Divergent? Way harsh? Or do you see where he’s coming from at all?
