New Details on Zayn's "One Direction-Inspired" TV Series

The former One Direction band mate has just signed on to help develop a scripted series that will air on NBC. The new show will be titled “Boys” and follow the formation of successful boy band, and all the pressures that come with it.
Written by the creators of CW’s Beauty and the Beast, and produced by the man behind Law & Order, Dick Wolf and his wife Noelle, this show will definitely be like nothing we’ve seen before. And of course they have Zayn as a secret weapon, giving them all the real life experiences that come with being a part of a boy band.
In a recent interview, Zayn seems to be pretty excited to get started on the show saying quote, “Dick Wolf is a legend and the opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome.”
NBC Entertainment President, Jennifer Salke admitted that having Zayn there will bring an authentic point of view to this world where kids are catapulted into fame at a dizzying speed.
Producers also revealed that casting will be a major component in the show, because they plan to release original music along with the series. Sounds like this fictional boy band, might just turn into a kinda-real boy band…
But it seems like not everyone is excited about the new show. Simon Cowell, who originally formed One Direction back on UK’s X Factor, says he’s not surprised that Zayn is developing a TV show inspired by his time in the band. Although he did give the project his blessing, Simon admitted quote, “I think he should have come to me with it, if I’m being honest with you.”
There’s no word yet on a potential premiere date, or if the other One Direction members will also give their input. So I want to know all your thoughts about the show, will you watch?
