Wanting to learn every little thing about a song is pretty normal for any given fan, but for all you Niall stans out there, well, there’s just one piece of information Niall isn’t planning on giving up any time soon. In an interview with Short List, Niall opened up about his current life as a solo artist and revealed his one question that he never wants to be asked. Like, ever.
Niall said QUOTE, “Never ask an artist who a certain song is about. I get it all the time, and what they’re really wanting to know is who you’re shagging at any given time. That’s where it gets annoying. I want people to interpret my music, not assign real people to the lyrics.” Fair enough.
Speaking of music, Niall also opened up about his One Direction days and compared his life in a band to being all on his own. While Niall has more control over his music, he admitted that he’s been overthinking his own song these days. Mainly because he doesn’t really have anyone else to bounce his musical ideas off of. I guess this just means 1D has to get together again, for the sake of Niall’s sanity.
Aside from speaking on his music and life after One Direction, Niall talked about playing the One Love Manchester concert earlier this year to raise money for those affected by the Manchester Arena bombing. Niall admitted that playing the concert was one of the most surreal days of his life.
He said QUOTE, “Everywhere I looked, people were dancing and having a good laugh. Then I played ‘This Town,’ and the mood changed. I caught a girl’s eyes in the crowd and she was just bawling her eyes out. During Justin Bieber’s acoustic set, policemen were dancing with kids. I’d never seen anything like it. You can’t let a terror attack alter your way of thinking.”
What did you guys think of Niall’s Short List interview? Were you surprised to find out that he hates being asked about the meaning behind his songs? Let me know in the comment section below.
