On Tuesday, Cardi B stunned the world with her American Music Awards performance of “I Like It”. This was Cardi’s first public appearance since her physical altercation with Nicki Minaj during New York Fashion Week in September. Following Cardi’s performance, loyal Barbz made sure to point out the similarities between Cardi’s performance and past Nicki performances. Fan account “NickiOverload” posted a video on Instagram of Nicki’s Billboard Music Awards performance of “Regret In Your Tears”. The clip shows Nicki laying down on a circular stage VERY similar to how Cardi started her performance. The caption uses Nicki lyrics saying, “i’m a trendsetter: everything i do, they doyeah”. Nicki appears to agree with this sentiment. She commented on the fan video with a crying face emoji.
NickiOverload posted a still from another Nicki performance where she sits on the stage and lifts her leg up in the air, a move similar to one that Cardi did in her AMA’s performance. Nicki didn’t hold back on that one either, commenting “Queen” in the caption. Bardi Gang fans have come to Cardi’s defense- asking how pathetic one must be to comment “Queen” on their own picture?! If you recall, Nicki was also caught ‘liking’ shady posts of Cardi B following the shoe-throwing incident back in September.
According to TMZ, Nicki was set to appear at the AMAs earlier this week, but was a no-show. Some think Nicki pulled out of her appearance to AVOID another explosive run-in with Cardi B. But not so fast, a production source later confirmed to TMZ that Nicki was never scheduled to be at the event in the first place. So do we think that Cardi copied (or was inspired by!) Nick’s past performances? And is Nicki allowed to comment on photos of her?! Get typing with your thoughts below! Then, be sure to check out another new video and of course don’t forget to hit that subscribe button. I’m your host Renee Ariel, and I’ll catch you guys next time.
