Last week Perrie posted a stunning photo of herself on instagram wearing a deep V top that showed off a prominent surgery scar she has on her stomach and lower abdomen. On top of the photo being gorgeous, the best part about it is that the comments were extremely positive. Perrie didn’t caption the photo so there was no attention intentionally directed toward the scar, but even so people were quick to share their words of encouragement. One mom tweeted a side by side photo of her godddaughter showing off her scar next to the photo of Perrie with the caption – “Thanks to perrie my 8year old goddaughter wanted to show of her life saving scars like her idol #bodypositive.”
Others shared photos of their scars as well expressing that Perrie helped them to find beauty in their scars. One woman wrote – “Thank you Perrie for making me comfortable and confident enough to show off my scar. You have no idea how much you changed me.” Another said - “Seeing someone so beautiful and strong embrace her markings makes me want to learn how to love mine too.” Naturally mixers were beaming with pride with one fan saying QUOTE – “couldn't be more proud and emotional for perrie she's been hiding her scar for years & now she's inspiring others to show theirs off.”
Perrie has explained in the past that she is self-conscious about her scar and that it is something she has always covered. She told Now magazine QUOTE - “When I was little, my oesophagus was too small, so I had to get it operated on to help me eat properly. I had to have lots of operations, so that’s why I don’t want to show it.”
But now the fact that she didn’t caption the photo let the photo speak for itself symbolizing that she has since overcome her insecurity and is now choosing to embrace it. And to that I say yaaaas queen. I want to hear from you guys. How awesome is it that Perrie is inspiring people to see the beauty in their scars?
