Take a stroll into KL's century old enclave of Brickfields and look for a distinctive green coloured food corner called Lawanya at Lorong Scotts. Lawanya literally means "it's beautiful" in Bahasa Malaysia. But in actual fact it is the name of this stall owner's daughter. The cheerful spectacled staff owner, Mr Ramasamy, has been doing this business for over 33 years and surely there is a secret that keeps the customers happy. It's the simple idea of serving good, wholesome home-cooked food. The highlight of this stall is the wide variety of vegetarian food, besides his servings of meaty dishes, offered during lunch. And they are placed in a long row of clay pots. You will find not one but 50 of them ! Of course, these vegetarian dishes are all wholesome, healthy and pretty colourful ! Most of these dishes are specialties from south India and you will be tempted by the aroma of the spices in the air.Beware! The lunch serving starts around 11:30 am and usually the pots are emptied within an hour ! Hurry here early, otherwise you will miss the queue for something good.
