Just when you thought life without Pretty Little Liars would be TOO unbearable, we have a silver lining! It comes from Pretty Little Liars showrunner I Marlene King and The Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec.
While we’re winding down to the final episodes of PLL, The Vampire Diaries TV series ended for good months ago back in March. This hasn’t stopped rumors of a potential crossover collaboration between PLL and TVD.
It all began with a tweet. PLL’s King reached out to TVD’s Plec on Twitter writing, “Hey @julieplec, I feel like we are always 2 ships passing in the night. Wanna grab a coffee and talk about making television?”
Naturally fans on Twitter went NUTS, speculating that this could mean the two shows are collaborating on some sort of crossover. And since we live in an age of reboots and spinoffs, the end of a show isn’t necessarily the end- meaning TVD COULD come back in another form.
While these two fandom captains together would no doubt make TV gold, that doesn’t mean they could combine their shows even if they wanted. There’s also a show that fans online really want the writers to team up on: The Perfectionists. The YA book series is by the same author as Pretty Little Liars and there have been rumors that King is developing the series. This could explain why she reached out the Plec in the first place.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see (if) and when Plec responds to King’s coffee date invitation. Until then tell us below in the comments what YOU think this all means? Is a crossover CRAZY or totally NECESSARY? After that check out a first look from the set of 13 Reasons Why season 2! As always, I’m your host Miriam Isa, and I’ll catch you guys next time back here on Clevver.
