The Shah Alam High Court is pushing for a harsher sentence against the conviction of Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli for criminal defamation. In their appeal on the sentence, the prosecution submitted that the court should reconsider the RM 1,800 fine imposed on him.
Rafizi was found guilty accusing Selangor Umno of being behind the Molotov cocktail attacks at churches in 2014.
The comments found to be defamatory were reported by a news portal, FZ.com on Feb 4, 2014 and published by The Edge Financial Daily the next day.
