Scooter Braun is opening up about his feud with Taylor Swift and is sticking to his side of the story.
What’s up? It’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and it looks like Scooter Braun, AKA the talent manager who represents Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato, isn’t letting the drama get to him.
Just for a little refresher… Taylor Swift went IN on Scooter after he signed a deal acquiring her old record label and holding the rights to her entire musical catalog.
Scooter’s company acquired Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group, which was Taylor’s old record label throughout her entire career, for $300 million and Taylor was NOT happy about it.
She posted a screenshot to her Instagram stories of a photo Justin Bieber had posted a while back, with Scooter Braun and Kanye West, writing, “Taylor Swift what up.”
She wrote on the photo quote, “This is Scooter Braun, bullying me on social media when I was at my lowest point. He’s about to own all the music I’ve ever made.”
Taylor then linked an even longer Tumblr post to her story, where she attempts to explain her side of what went down.
Basically Taylor went on to claim that she had just learned about Scooter’s purchase of her music as it was just announced to the world and called him a “bully” for doing so.
And as things unfolded Taylor announced that she plans to re-record her music later next year to own the masters of her old songs again.
So while Taylor has been VERY vocal throughout all of this, Scooter has been pretty quiet.
His wife spoke out somewhat on his behalf. During the drama she wrote a whole three page note on her Instagram defending her husband and captioned it quote, “@taylorswift, I’m here to talk privately anytime.”
So Scooter hadn’t really said much in depth about the matter himself… Until now.
He just opened up during an interview on Tony Gonzalez's ‘Wide Open’ podcast about dealing with the negativity and haters after his recent feud with Taylor.
Though, he seemingly intentionally never mentions Taylor by name while talking about the matter.
He said quote, “I went through some drama recently. And then put my phone down, looked at my friends and my family… and I was like, 'I'm good…I'm happy.' And people question your integrity. They talk sh*t.”
Scooter also talked about how he felt when he was attacked online by the media and all of the Swifties.
He said quote, “It's hard when you get attacked and it's not based on any truth, but for that other person it may be based on truth but they don't have all the information.”
He continued on and added quote, “That's why I am always open to communication and having a conversation with someone and saying, 'Maybe this was a misunderstanding and I am happy to have a conversation with you.' But not everybody is willing to do that and you can't go through life thinking you're going to be friends and everyone is going to like you.”
Without naming names, Scooter’s obviously talking about Taylor here, who allegedly refused to pick up his calls after she released her Tumblr post about him.
But Scooter knows that he’s never going to make everyone happy.
He said quote, “I don't do anything with malicious intent. I try to do things above board. I try to do the right thing. Not everyone’s gonna be happy with everything that you do. And I think in the long-term, I’ve learned this over time, the truth always comes out, and I’m confident in that.”
Ohhhh the tea.
What truth is he talking about? Is he trying to say that Taylor maybe knew about the deal even though she said she didn’t?
I’m not sure, but Scooter is definitely alluding to SOMETHING there.
And while Scooter is standing his ground on his side of the story, Taylor very confident in hers.
Earlier this month she spoke about this feud in her Rolling Stone interview.
She revealed that the sale of her work to Scooter was going to be a hard pill to swallow because she felt betrayed.
Taylor has already said she’s going to re-record and re-release her music once she can in 2020, so I guess any drama at this point is useless.
What’s done is done.
But I want to know what you guys think about Scooter speaking out.
Do you think he had no malicious intent when buying Big Machine? And what do you think the “truth” is that he spoke about? Let me know down in the comments below.
