Serdang's Shoe Making Cottage Industry

Manaweblife discovered a shoemaker in the old enclave of Serdang, KL, and recorded an interesting insight into how industrial grade shoes are made . Indeed, Serdang has been known for its local cottage shoe industry for decades. Today , many big and small local enterprises still carry on this traditional  trade.  This cottage shoe factory  specializes in brands of industrial shoes that are exported mainly to Singapore. Mr Wong, the proprietor shoemaker has been at this trade for over 45 years. He started working in shoemaking in Singapore from 13 till 26. Then worked as shoemaker in JB for 14 years before venturing in this factory since the last 15 years. The video looks at how the materials are cut and fitted by hand and by machines one by one. According to Mr Wong the process can't be rushed because it takes time for the glue to set.
