During the Summerburst Festival in Stockholm on Saturday, Justin left some fans disappointed when he told them he couldn’t perform Despacito because he doesn’t know the words. It was clear that Justin felt bad about not giving the fans what they wanted but things took a turn for the worst when one fan pulled a Damien performing at the Talent Show in Mean Girls,
& hurled a shoe at Justin’s head. At that point, it was indeed too late to say sorry.
Right before shoe-meggon, Justin told the audience QUOTE - "I can’t do 'Despacito' because I don’t even know it. I don't know the song. I can't do it." To be fair, the song is in Spanish and when Justin recorded it, he probably was reading the lyrics. Even Luis Fonsi came to Justin’s defense saying - "That chorus is not easy to sing, even for fluent Spanish singers like myself. It's got a lot of lyrics, it's kind of tongue-twisty." Plus Justin just got in trouble for attempting to sing Despacito live and couldn’t remember the words so he said “blah blah blah” in place of the Spanish verses and people were offended because they thought he was intentionally being disrespectful toward the Spanish language. All of that to say, Justin didn’t want to make the same mistake twice. According to Teen Vogue, it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not the shoe throwing incident resulted in anyone being kicked out of the concert, but at least Justin has good reflexes.
In other Bieber news, he recently broke a record previously held by the Beatles. He currently has two songs in the Top 3 Billboard songs for the most consecutive weeks. Despacito and I’m the One have been sitting pretty on the charts for 13 weeks. The Beatles previously held the record with two songs in the top three for twelve weeks. What do you guys think about Justin’s new record and would you have thrown a shoe at his face?
