Sia's New Song 'Cheap Thrills' is a Rihanna Reject- LISTEN!

So basically every single on Sia’s new album was actually turned down buy a major pop star- how?! They’re so good!
“Cheap Thrills” is the fourth off her upcoming new album This Is Acting. Now yall know Sia got her start writing music for other big name artists. So this song was actually intended to be recorded by Rihanna! In an interview with Rolling Stone Sia said QUOTE "Her manager said, 'We want 'Diamonds.' We need soul. We want some music that has feeling.' …And that's what we came up with. …I realized just as soon as I was cutting it that it sounded a little bit too Brit-pop for her... We did actually send it to her, but they passed on it, and then I just couldn't stop listening to it in the car."
In fact, Sia says she was feeling her own, rejected song so much that it felt QUOTE “MASTURBATORY.” So she decided to keep it for herself. And I’m glad she did!
Now this single is by no means the only one on her album that was rejected by someone else. All but one were passed by huge artists. Adele rejected her song “Alive.” “Bird Set Free” was rejected by both Adele AND Rihanna. Some other songs got passed by Shakira and Beyonce. But “One Million Bullets” was written BY Sia, for Sia. QUOTE "'One Million Bullets' is my baby," Sia told Rolling Stone. "I had seller's remorse with 'Bird Set Free' every time it went away and then came back. First it went to Rihanna and then it was returned. Then it went to Adele, and Adele cut it and sounded amazing on it. Then it was returned." So she was happy to keep this one all to herself.
