The issue of Malaysian mothers seeking equal citizenship rights for their children born overseas has been a critical and emotional topic.

Despite the Madani government's promise in February 2023 to table a constitutional amendment addressing this inequality, the delay in fulfilling this promise has left many mothers in a state of anxiety.

Family Frontiers, an advocacy group, has been at the forefront of this battle. They have tirelessly pushed for constitutional change to ensure that Malaysian women are granted the same rights as men when it comes to passing citizenship to their children born abroad.
