The skylines of four Chinese cities - Beijing, Wuhan, Chongqing, and Qingdao - have been lit up with colorful lights and images as part of the nationwide celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
The Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival, falls on Feb. 1 this year.
Skyscrapers in the southwestern Chongqing Municipality and eastern Qingdao City are lit up with the logo of China Global Television Network (CGTN), as well as the official motto of Beijing 2022, which reads "Together for a Shared Future."
In central China's Wuhan City, colorful lights illuminate the city's famous landmarks such as the Yellow Crane Tower and the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge.
The light shows in Beijing feature elements of the Winter Olympics, especially Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon, the adorable panda and Chinese lantern mascots of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics is scheduled to take place on Friday at the National Stadium, also known as "The Bird's Nest" in Beijing.
