Sterling K. Brown Makes HISTORY For This Golden Globes 2018 Win

Earlier this evening, Sterling took home his first EVER Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, drama— and if that wasn’t exciting enough in and of itself, he’s the first black actor EVER to win in that category! Iconic, right?
Upon hearing his name, Sterling took the stage to thank the creator of This Is Us, Dan Fogelman for giving him the opportunity to play such an important, game-changing role. He said, QUOTE, “Dan Fogelman, throughout the majority of my career, I’ve benefitted from colorblind casting, which means, hey, let’s throw a brother in there. That’s always really cool.”
In This is Us, Sterling plays the role of Randall Pearson, the adopted black son of a white family. But for him, this role is different from all of the ones he’s played in the past because it was written and specifically intended for a black man.
And as incredible and historic as this win is for Sterling, this wouldn’t exactly be his first history-making win! Sterling also won an Emmy back in September of last year when he became the first black actor to win the award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 19 years! WOW!
Even though he’s so talented and makes us cry at some point during every episode of This is Us, he still manages to show us time and time again that he’s also just a down-to-earth, humble guy! Before exiting the stage, Sterling thanked his wife, and gave an adorable little shout-out to kids as well.
