Frances McDormand & Gary Oldman Win Best Actor Awards At 2018 Golden Globes

The Best Actress award in a drama went to Frances McDormand who played Mildred, a no nonsense grieving mother in the breakout hit Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. The film won BIG tonight grabbing her award, as well as best supporting actor for Sam Rockwell and best drama overall!
Frances’ speech was awesome, peppered with some great jokes, lauding the Hollywood Foreign Press for quote “actually electing a female president” and told all the women in the category of Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama to meet her at the bar after the awards for a round of tequila on her. The gesture is lovely, but I doubt the afterparty has a cash bar
Interestingly, the actress was bleeped in some uh, interesting places. When she thanked the studio behind the film, For Searchlight was bleeped, and she was bleeped again when she referenced the QUOTE “tectonic shift in this industry’s power structure”. She, however, did manage to get away with saying “shite”
Another big win this evening, went to Gary Oldman for playing Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour. Oldman, who played Sirius Black in the Harry Potter franchise. He gave a weeping and halting speech, especially thanking his makeup team. The makeup and prosthetics required for him to transform into the former prime minister were heavily researched and designed especially to enable Gary to have full control over his movements even when in the heavy makeup. After thanking the producers, he rounded out his speech by thanking his wife who put up QUOTE “with his crazy for over a year” and shared her hilarious perspective on the arduous shoot:
