Gary Oldman Wins Best Actor At 2018 Oscars & Shouts Out His Mom

It’s no easy task earning an Academy Award, some actors work their entire career to win that golden Oscar and some never do (Tom Cruise…I still think it’s possible for you) but tonight Gary Oldman was NOT one of those actors leaving the building empty handed. Nope, after already being nominated once before for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy , he finally took home the Best Actor trophy for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
Ask anyone who has seen this year’s epic library of contenders and they will tell you the Best Actor category was extremely competitive with Timothée shall-la-may being nominated for Call Me by Your Name, Daniel Day-Lewis for Phantom Thread, Daniel Kaluuya’s performance in Get Out,. and Denzel Washington in Roman J. Israel, Esq.
During his speech, Gary took the opportunity to show his gratitude to America, and also his mother.
This was Gary’s first ever Academy Award.
