Oprah received the Cecil B. Demille award at the Golden Globes and gave the most epic, empowering speech that is guaranteed to inspire you to go take over the world. This episode is brought to you by Turbo Tax. Relax, there’s Turbo Tax.

Um so what’s the deal on Oprah running for president in 2020? Is it happening or what?
Oprah came to the Golden Globes this year and did what Oprah never fails to do. She inspired, empowered, and made everyone raise their chins just a little bit higher. She spoke about being a little girl in 1964 watching the Oscars and how the moment Sidney Potier won for Best Actor was the first time she saw a man celebrated in that way and how that moment changed her life. Her hope is that somewhere there is a little girl watching her now on the golden globes stage tonight and now believes in herself that much more because of representation.
She went on to say QUOTE – “And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure they are the leaders to take us to the time where nobody has to say ‘me too’ again.” I got chills.
She spoke proudly and powerfully about the Times Up movement, praising women for using their voices to make a difference. She expressed gratitude for all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault because they had children to feed, bills to pay, and dreams to pursue. She told the real life story of a woman named Reecy Taylor. A woman who was abducted, brutally rapped, and then left blind folded on the side of the road by six white men while she was walking home from church and they were never charged for their crime. They also threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone. Thankfully Rosa Parks teamed up with her along with the NAACP to seek justice. Oprah then said arguably the most powerful statement of the night.
