The REAL Reason Behind Demi Lovato & Wilmer Valderrama's Split

Our hearts are broken with the news of Demi and Wilmer’s split, which is why we’re still searching for some insight as to what went wrong. Brace yourself guys, because we might actually have some answers...
According to a source for E! News, Demi and Wilmer called it quits simply because they realized they were better friends than lovers. The source explained QUOTE, “It had turned into more of a big brother-little sister kind of relationship...The romance wasn't what it used to be.”
Meanwhile another source confirmed that notion, saying QUOTE, "They love each other but aren't in love anymore. They are really great friends which they'll continue to be but the romance sort of died."
If that reason for a celebrity breakup sounds familiar, it’s because those are the same alleged reasons why Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift also recently ended their relationship. Except no one described theirs as a big-brother-little-sister kind of relationship. In fact, we’re hoping that’s not exactly how Demi and Wilmer would describe their 6-year relationship together, because they were definitely more than friends for a long time, so that’s just a little creepy.
And despite their relationship going full-platonic now, the first source also explained why Wilmer and Demi will always remain close to each other, saying QUOTE ”...Wilmer is still very protective of her. He did a lot for her... He was very close to her family. I don't expect that will change. There was a lot of love there.”
So there we have it. I’m so happy to hear they’re still friends, but it still hurts, you know? Especially since 6 years is practically a lifetime on the Hollywood Relationship Timeline.
