That’s a wrap for TVD after eight years of tears, sweat, and a whole lotta blood, so what better way than good company, booze, and a whole lotta cake?!
If you thought the 8-season-long run of The Vampire Diaries took you for an emotional roller coaster ride, that’s probably nothing compared to all the feels you felt just yesterday alone as the entire cast of The Vampire Diaries documented their final day of production. TVD alumn Nina Dobrev’s heartfelt post to the cast, crew and fans yesterday was just beginning, as she wrote alongside a photo of TVD Giving Key necklaces, “I grew up on this show and am eternally grateful for all the opportunities it has given me.”
Many of the series’ regulars, including Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Candice King, Kat Graham and Matt Davis wrapped production yesterday, each expressing their love and gratitude for their TVD family and the memories they shared. The cast wrapped the final episode titled, “I Was Feeling Epic”, and as if you’ve already been through enough yesterday, the final scene coincidentally featured the dynamic duo Damon and Stefan Salvatore one last time.
Paul posted a photo of the two on Instagram with the caption QUOTE, “That's officially a wrap. One last pic of the brothers in front of the Camaro. To the fans, thank you for being a part of this journey in our lives. We couldn't have done it without you.” Ian took to Facebook to livestream from the set, participating in live chats with fans, until he relayed his final words: “Here we go… last scene ever.”
He also posted a sweet Instagram photo of himself outside his dressing room, writing, “That's an official wrap on the Vampire Diaries. From the 1st day to the last night... I was the last to leave our stages early this morning, not a single crew member, not a sound. To the fans, thank you for it all we would have never been on this journey without you. To all who made this show possible- we did it. 8 years, wow. Thank you all. Love, Ian.”
Exec producer Julie Plec shared a photo of the insanely detailed cake of the Salvatore mansion, writing, “That's a wrap. Thank you #TVDFamily for the love, the passion & the friendship. Eternally grateful. #tvdforever” and Candice King also shared a photo of the delicious-looking cake, along with her daughter, whom she brought to set for mom’s last day. Kat Graham bid adieu to Bonnie Bennett, tweeting a 2-minute video collage of her TVD highlights and Matt Davis also posted an Instagram video just before shooting his final scene as Alaric.
Well it certainly has been a wonderful ride, and we’ll surely miss this entire cast, but hopefully we can look forward to actually watching the remainder of the final season, along with TVD reunions in the years to come, one can only hope… But right now I want to know all your thoughts on the cast’s final day of filming, so hit us up in the comments right down here, and as always, be sure to subscribe to our channel for all the latest updates. Thanks for hanging out with me here on ClevverNews, I’m your host Joslyn Davis and I’ll see you next time.
