TRYING INDONESIAN FOOD IN PADANG / MENCOBA MAKANAN INDONESIA DI PADANG

After visiting Jakarta last month to travel Indonesia and exploring the city I have decided to travel to Indonesia again.

I am currently in the beautiful city of Padang, which is the capital of West Sumatra in Indonesia. I travelled from my home in Kuala Lumpur and it took around 1 hour to fly here.

One thing Padang is famous for is it's food and street food. Dishes like Nasi Padang and Sate Padang are popular throughout Indonesia.

I am going to be here for a week and have decided to make some videos while I am exploring Padang.

First, I had to make a video where I try some Indonesian food (street food) here in Padang. This video shows me trying several different types of Indonesian food.

I started with Sate (Satay) Kacang. Kacang translates to Peanut and this dish is one where the sate comes with an amazing peanut sauce. It has a deep peanut taste with a nice hint of chilli through it.

Next I went for something a bit sweeter and I tried Pisang Bakar. Pisang is Banana. Bakar translates to something along the lines of burnt or barbecued. So this is like a fried banana and the one I tried was topped with Keju (cheese). It was super tasty and the sweetness of the banana matched well with the saltiness of the cheese.

When I was walking around I came across a stall selling Mie Sawan Pedas. This is Indomie noodle dish that was topped with a huge amount of spicy chilli. They have different levels of spice and I decided to go for the highest. It was super hot and spicy but very enjoyable. If you like your heat and spice, then this is for you. The spiciest noodles I have tried before are Samyang but these are just as spicy.

Lastly I visited a shop called Ayam Penyet Ria to try some of the famous Indonesian Ayam Penyet. Firstly, I tried their Soto Ayam (chicken soup) which is another popular Indonesian dish. This has a deep and homely taste with some nice chicken and noodles through it. The Ayam Penyet was really brilliant. The chicken was perfectly fried, their Tempe was so tasty that I could just eat it all day and it had a nice understated chilli sauce. I finished this meal with some Jus Alpukat which is drink made up of Avocado and Chocolate. It was light and refreshing and finished off my day nicely.

I then visited Padang beach which was very busy with people and a cool place to relax and watch the sun set.

I will be doing more things in Padang this week, so look out for more videos.
