Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad said whistleblowers should be accorded protection under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010.

When asked about the whistleblower behind the alleged Sabah corruption scandal, Mahathir said he did not follow the reports but stressed that whistleblowers must be protected or they would not give information.
