Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he had proposed that the minimum wage for Malaysian skilled workers be set at RM3,500, an increase from the current RM1,200.
Dr Zahid said this was to match the minimum wage of foreign skilled workers in the country and to encourage more young Malaysians to take up technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
Dr Zahid said this after officiating the Malaysia TVET Expo on Thursday.
