The two stars of the upcoming movie The Greatest Showman answered some pretty great questions. Zendaya’s 21 which made her prime OG High School Musical Fan age, and she was asked if she had a poster of Zac in her room growing up. I’m not sure if her answer was surprising or expected. The singer said QUOTE: “I did not. Everybody knows at least two or three Zac Efron obsessives. I happen to not be one of those people,”
Now, lest you worry that it meant she didn’t especially like him. Never feae though, as she followed up withe QUOTE “That’s a good thing. I got to know him. He’s different from what people think.” Explaining that QUOTE “He’s this slightly awkward, nerdy kid who happens to have this life.”
That definitely didn’t stop them from getting close though, as she said she’s quite similar to him and owned up to hear own nerdiness! She said QUOTE “I don’t go to parties even when I’m invited. I’ve always been an 80-year-old woman inside. I remember going to my first school dance petrified. I just wanted to leave. Like, This is cool, but I’m ready to go home now.”
She also kind of made of fun Zac for being so focused on working out through the grueling shot for The Greatest Showman. She said, QUOTE “I made fun of him most of the time. I used to call him “Workout Bands.” Because every five seconds, in the middle of takes, he’s over there with those stretchy workout-band things. Every day after work, we’d text each other about what injuries we had..” Well, we certainly hope they got everything taking care of.
The interview also hit on some serious points, too! When Zendaya was asked what song made her cry, she said it was “They Don’t Care about Us’ by Michael Jackson, revealing that she could relate to it right now because of the current social and political climate. When questioned if actors should be political, she answered with the incredibly eloquent” Listen, I use my platform for more than just myself. Art is a reflection of human emotions. To neglect the political is to neglect what essentially is your job of storytelling.” Preach Zendaya, preach !
The interview did come back around to some lightheartedness as the end, when Zac was asked if he’d ever do a superhero movie. His answer?
“I would do it in a second. I’m just waiting for the right opportunity. And the right tights.”
Well, we can’t wait to see that! What did you think of Zac and Zendaya’s interview and how excited are you for The Greatest Showman musical??
