The new teen drama “Euphoria” starring Zendaya hasn’t even started yet, but is already facing some controversy.
What’s up guys I’m Emile and if you’re not into intense TV dramas that tow the line of what is and is not appropriate, then Euphoria might not be for you.
The Hollywood Reporter gave some details about the up and coming show that premieres on HBO this Sunday.
Without giving too many spoilers, the article says that in the first episode alone, there is an overdose and a graphic scene depicting sexual assault.
And the second episode? Apparently THIRTY nudie judies in the men’s locker room! THIRTY. Count em.
Ok no don’t do that.
And honestly, so am I!
Sure, there’s nudity, and drug use, and violence, but guys, this is HBO. They are always trying to push the envelope and if this doesn’t sound like the show for you, then don’t watch it!
People, though, especially parents, are freaked out about the show.
One person said,
“Another troubling show aimed at youths”
And Fox News is saying the show is “pushing dangerous boundaries for kids”
Which, actually, is exactly what people said about Gossip Girl when it came out
Sure, Gossip Girl didn’t have 30 penises. But they WERE on the CW. Which is much more kid friendly than the 10PM time slot on HBO.
I haven’t seen Euphoria yet so I will just have to wait and see. I understand where people are coming from, but I don’t know…
I don’t think this is the first time HBO has made something this dark or hard to watch.
And I don’t think this is a show that is going to have a large audience of kids.
So at the end of the day, if you’re not happy with the show, just turn on literally anything else.
But let’s hear from you guys. Are you going to be watching Euphoria? Do you think there’s such a thing as “too much for tv”? Let me know in the comments below.
