We’ve got your must-see moments from Lady Gaga’s patriotic Super Bowl halftime show!
The Patriots just won the Super Bowl, but Lady Gaga STOLE the show.
America may be politically divided right now, but one thing everyone can agree on is how epic Lady Gaga’s Pepsi halftime show was. While Gaga promised she wouldn’t include a political statement, her halftime show was filled with plenty of glitter, tons of hits, and some subtle messaging. Gaga started her show on the roof of the NRG Stadium singing “America the Beautiful” and a couple lines of “This Land is Our Land” as colorful drones danced above her. The second song was a significant choice as it was a popular Donald Trump protest song after his inauguration and immigration ban. This crafty statement was quickly overshadowed by our first must-see moment!
THAT was the jump that has now taken over the Internet. Prepare to never think of jumping the same ever again. Following her brave leap, Gaga belted out a mashup of “The Edge of Glory” and “Poker Face” while dazzling us with her acrobatic skills over the galactic themed set. Landing back on earth Gaga launched into her second statement of the performance- a very powerful lyric from her song “Born This Way”.
From there Gaga, dressed in a David Bowie inspired metallic bodysuit and boots, transitioned into her duet with Beyonce “Telephone”. NO I don’t think you were the only one that let out an accidental scream- preparing for pregnant Beyonce to pop out on stage at any second. But it turns out Gaga didn’t need Queen B for her mind blowing halftime show. Instead, Gaga brought her first outfit change and a cameo by her infamous keytar for “Just Dance.
Not only was Gaga singing live, dancing her heart out, but managed to play MULTIPLE instruments during the impressive show. Gaga then hopped over to the piano and slowed it down for an intimate moment with her only Joanne track of the night, “Million Reasons”.
Mother Monster ended with her megahit “Bad Romance” changing into a football themed look with a crop top and hotpants. But arguably the best moment of Gaga’s performance was her earth shattering mic drop football catch, and ANOTHER jump.
While some say Lady Gaga played it safe with her halftime show, we think her athletic show was flawlessly done and showed off her out-of-this-world talent. The halftime show has been praised by political figures and celebs for its inclusion themes and will surely go down in history as one of the most iconic shows football has ever seen.
You know what to do now! Tell us down in the comments your favorite part of Lady Gaga’s halftime show- and what do you think of her subtle political statements? I’m your host Emile Ennis Jr thanks for tuning in.
