Even though Adele is leading the pack with FOUR nominations at the 2016 BRIT Awards, she’s up against some really tough competition.
The ‘Hello’ singer has been nominated for Best British Female Solo Artist against the likes of Amy Winehouse, Florence of Florence and the Machines, Jess Glynne, and Laura Marling. Amy has been nominated for the same award before in 2013, two years after her death, but she lost it to Emeli Sande. The late singer’s nom comes after the release of Asif Kapadia’s Amy documentary, which was accompanied by a posthumous album from the singer.
Aside from being nominated for Best British Female, Adele is also in the running for British Single of the Year, Album of the Year, and Video of the Year against the likes of One Direction, Little Mix, Coldplay, Sam Smith, Florence and the Machines, and many more.
Speaking of One Direction, the boy band is up for two awards: one for Best British Group and the other for Video of the Year. Even though the guys are on their hiatus, my fingers are crossed for a mini reunion at the BRITs! Meanwhile, Little Mix finally received their first BRIT award nominations for British Single and Video of the year and the girls could not be any happier. Jade shared a screen shot of the girl group’s group text on the official Little Mix twitter account and Jesy is losing her mind over the noms.
I’m sure I speak for every Mixer out there when I say I’m absolutely proud of the girls! They deserved it!
