The Titanic soundtrack got a modern day remake thanks to Ariana Grande and James Corden. Late Monday night Ariana joined James for a live musical performance to celebrate the love story of Jack and Rose. Ari and James performed 13 songs – yes, you heard me correctly, 13 songs in front of nine different and iconic sets from the movie and they did it all in one take.
Ari and James kicked off the musical with Styx’s ‘Come Sail Away’ and then they quickly moved on to Hall & Oates’ ‘Rich Girl,’ and Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are,’ before singing the Foo Fighters’ ‘Learn to Fly’ while recreating that iconic scene of Jack and Rose “flying” on the bow of the ship.
Pretty incredible, right?
Anyway, the two then dove right on in to a number of today’s pop hits – and a few from the past -- that pretty much described every single scene from here on out. They performed Gaga’s ‘Just Dance,’ One Direction’s ‘Steal My Girl,’ Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ for that classic ‘draw me like one of your French girls, Jack’ scene’ and of course for the steamy car scene, they sang this hit Nelly song.
Immediately after that Ari and James went into their own rendition of Vanilla Ice’s ‘Ice Ice Baby’ for the iceberg scene which then Segwayed into Pitbull and Kesha’s ‘Timber,’ Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up,’ ‘N Sync’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’ and ended their musical with what has to be the most iconic song from a movie soundtrack EVER. Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On.’
Did you guys catch that harmonization? I’m starting to think Ariana and James should start their own musical group or a two-person Broadway show or somtehing. Especially after that entire performance.
Sooo, what did you guys think of the revised and modernized Titanic soundtrack curated and sung by Ariana and James for the late night show?
