Ariana Grande has been working her butt off prepping for Hairspray live and numerous sources have said that Ariana has shown zero signs of being a diva and instead has been a joy to work with.
Ariana hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to having a reputation of being a diva, but it looks like those rumors can be dismissed.
Ariana became known as a diva after Doughnut gate, saying that she hates America, and being rumored to requesting to be carried but sources who’ve been working on set with her for Hairspray live say that Ariana has been nothing but professional and on her best behavior. The show’s writer, Harvey Fierstein told Page Six QUOTE - “Ariana is here working her tail off. She is a total team player. She is old-school, singing and dancing. Her only concern is being part of the ‘Hairspray’ team. If that’s diva, then give me more of that!” Another source echoed similar sentiments saying QUOTE - “We didn’t know what to expect, but she has been on time to the minute . . . The work she’s done has been meticulous. She is singing the s - - t out of the score.” The source continued saying that at one point Ariana was in the studio for over five hours and clearly exhausted when the producers asked her if she wanted to stop, to which she responded saying QUOTE – “I will not leave until I am done.”
No doubt Hairspray Live is shaping up to be legendary seeing as though we now know that Ariana and Jennifer Hudson will be treating us to a duet of “Come So Far (Got So Far to Go)” which was originally sung by Queen Latifah in the 2007 film adaptation. Not to mention, J-Hud and Ari were slaying on the red carpet last night at the Hairspray Live press junket rocking overalls and a banging black dress. The cast also includes Kristen Chenoweth, Martin Short, Derek Hough, Sean Hayes, and Rosie O’Donnell! You can catch all the action when the show airs on NBC Dec. 7th.
