Over the next few weeks we’re taking you on a round the world food tour via Auckland’s restaurants. In this video we’re hunting down some of the best spots for Cantonese food. We take you into the kitchen of one of Auckland’s oldest Chinese restaurants, Pearl Garden- a locals favourite for yum cha- Cantonese brunch. We eat classic Hong Kong cafe fare at Hungry head of french toast and yuen yeung (half coffee and half tea) and share our favourite restaurant for sui mei- Cantonese roast meats, Golden Garden. 1. Beef brisket noodles, French toast and yuenyeung at Hungry Head, 8 Torrens Road, East Tamaki, Auckland 2013. Open Thursday to Tuesday 11:00am to 9:00pm.

2. Yum cha at Pearl Garden, Level 1/1 Teed Street, Newmarket, Auckland 1023, 11:00am to 3:00pm (for yum cha) and 5:30pm-10:00pm (for dinner).

3. Roast meats on rice at Golden Garden, 583 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041, open 7 days 10:30am to 10:30pm.
