Camila Cabello JUST released her music video for her hit single “Havana,” and signed off with a powerful message dedicated to all of the DACA Dreamers.
That’s right! The “Havana” music video just hit the web this morning, and Camila was not afraid to get political.
The music video pays homage to Camila’s Cuban roots, and it includes some of the most beautiful customs and traditions that Cuban immigrants have contributed to American society. In the over 6-minute-long music video, Camila is seen watching telenovelas, salsa dancing in the streets, and spending quality time with her family.
This music video comes almost two months after the news surfaced that President Donald Trump was trying to repeal DACA, a program permitting undocumented immigrants who moved to the U.S. as young kids the chance to study and work without the risk of deportation. Camila, along with many other celebs, has been outspoken about her support for DACA and her fear over what would happen to some of her friends and family if DACA were to be repealed.
Camila, who is a Cuban immigrant herself, took to Twitter and Instagram on September 5th to bring awareness to this issue, which is so close to her heart for obvious reasons. She wrote, “Trumps plan to Deport DREAMERS is cruel and we WILL resist. Please stand up text RESIST to 50409 #IStandWithDreamers.”
She also appeared the Today show on September 25th to perform “Havana” live, and dedicated her performance to the Dreamers back then, too! Behind her, her band wore shirts that read, “I stand with Dreamers,” and Camila delivered a powerful message to the audience. She said, “This is America, the America we love, where no matter your race, your color, your beliefs or where you came from, if you have a dream, you can make it possible."
Wow! What do you guys think of Camila’s decision to dedicate the “Havana” music video to the DACA Dreamers? Let us know in the comments, and then click over here and see why Camila has actually been solo for two years now, and over here for all of the details on Normani’s solo contract!
