Camila Cabello Honors Dreamers & Gives TOUCHING Speech At 2018 Grammys

Cabello had just sung with Kesha during an all-female performance of “Praying” that gave everyone goose bumps before she took the stage by herself to introduce U2. But not before seizing the moment to talk about a topic close to her heart. Dreamers. She started off by saying, QUOTE “Tonight in this room full of music’s dreamers we remember that this country was built by dreamers for dreamers chasing the American dream.” And then she got personal.
Seriously, whip out the tissue people. There’s more.
The whole room bust out in applause for her, and she finished her speech off with, QUOTE “All I know is just like dreams, these kids can’t be forgotten and are worth fighting for.” Then she introduced U2’s politically charged performance of their song “Get Out Of Your Own Way” which U2 performed in front of the Statue of Liberty! Really driving the point home about the values of our democracy. But not before Camila recited Emma Lazarus’ famous poem inscribed on the Statue of Liberty about “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…” She finished the poem giving way to the band’s unforgettable performance. Later on, U2 took aim at Trump’s infamous “s—hole” countries comment by sharing this pic of their performance with a very pro immigration caption.
