And we’ll also tell you about John Mayer’s crusade to join Fifth Harmony...
Camila Cabello and her mother Sinuhe Estrabao sat down for a chat with Glamour magazine and reflected on their journey from Cuba to America. When it happened Camila was just 6 years old but the experience changed her life forever. In the interview Camila admitted she is writing music about that time in her life. Camila explained QUOTE, “I want to make a love song for immigrants. That word, immigrant, has such a negative connotation -- I can just imagine all the little girls who have dreams of coming here…”
Camila and her Mom also reminisced on Camila’s journey to The X Factor. Camila confessed she was so introverted as a kid she would bring CDs to the YMCA after school and practice routines in the corner. The singer also had a YouTube channel where she posted over 50 cover songs. And it was YouTube that inspired Camila to audition for The X Factor saying QUOTE, “After seeing a One Direction “tips on auditioning for The X Factor (USA)” video, I asked Mom if I could audition.” And as many people know that was Camila’s first time performing live EVER, and the rest was history.
Camila’s mom added QUOTE, “I have never met someone who can confront her fears in the way she does. I can tell she’s terrified, but she doesn’t stop.”
And we’re slightly terrified by John Mayer’s Instagram story last night. The singer took it upon himself to explain why Fifth Harmony with one less harmony is not a good thing. You gotta see this.
John went on to offer to join the foursome, but ended bizarrely by saying, “Hi Camila.” So we’re not totally sure what to make of all this. Tell us below what you think John’s Instagram story means and what do you think Camila’s immigration influenced music will sound like? Thanks so much for tuning in to Clevver News, I’m your host Sinead de Vries, see you next time.
