Celebs Mourn Over Tragic Death of Anton Yelchin After Freak Accident

At only 27-years old, Anton was best known for his role as Chekov in the remake of the Star Trek films. Over the weekend he was found dead in the driveway of his Los Angeles home. Police say his 2015 Jeep Cherokee rolled backwards on a steep incline, pinning him against a brick pillar and security fence.
As of last month, 2015 Cherokee models have been recalled due to the e-shift transmission. Meaning, the driver could put the car in neutral thinking it was in park. And according to NHTSA records, Anton’s car had never been taken in for repairs. However, there is no word yet to confirm if the shifting device contributed to his accident.
Many members of Anton’s Star Trek family paid tribute to the actor on social media. Zachary Quinto posted Anton’s photo on Instagram with the caption, “Our dear friend. Our comrade. Our Anton. One of the most open and intellectually curious people I have ever had the pleasure to know. So enormously talented and generous of heart. Wise behind his years. And gone beyond his time. All love and strength to his family at this impossible time of grief.”
Others who have worked with the actor in the past, like Chris Evans tweeted his admiration for Anton saying, “He was thoughtful, kind, and gifted. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Tom Hiddleston tweeted, “Absolutely devastated to hear about Anton Yelchin. He was such a gifted, natural actor and a deeply kind man. My thoughts are with his family.”
Anna Kendrick called the actor’s death “unreal.” Writing that Anton is such a talent and such a huge loss.
Chad Michal Murray said, “Just heard about Anton Yelchin. What a great talent and good young man. Gone far too soon. God Bless. Terrible loss. You’ll be missed.”
Troian Bellisario sent her love to his family and friends at the time of sudden loss.
Alexander Ludwig tweeted, “I had the pleasure of knowing Anton briefly and he was a wonderful human being. Devastating. All my love to his loved ones.”
Josh Gad tweeted, “In absolute shock over the loss of Anton Yelchin. Absolutely horrible.”
Kat Dennings wrote, “Anton Yelchin was one of my best friends. Can’t say anything that conveys what this feels like.”
Miles Teller tweeted, “Wow. Completely blown away and saddened by the news this morning about Anton. The world will miss his talents. RIP.”
James Franco took to Instagram posting a photo of Anton with the caption, “Great actor” with a heart emoji.
Stephen King tweeted about the terrible news saying that the crazily talented actor is gone too soon.
Grant Gustin wrote on Twitter, “Anton Yelchin was a phenomenal actor who’s work I greatly admired. He seemed like a very special, kind person. No words.”
Drake even paid tribute to the actor by posting a throwback photo of himself and Anton on Instagram and writing Rest in Peace Anton with the praying hands emoji.
And we would like to end with Olivia Wilde. She wrote, “Anton Yelchin was a bright, brilliant talent, and a truly kind person. I was so taken by him, and won’t ever forget his sweet smile. RIP”
