Demi Lovato was less than pleased with a piece of fan art that made its way through Instagram featuring her body with unrealistic proportions, and you bet she’s having the last word.
So it’s safe to say that if Demi Lovato’s body had a say, it would definitely be saying, “OH HELL NO.”
Always one to shamelessly speak up following any sort of issue, Demi Lovato was once again quick to slam a Lovatic over the weekend, after his detailed fan art of an ‘abstract’ version of Demi circulated through the Interwebs.
The fan, by the name of the Romanian artist, Vladimir Serbanescu, drew Demi topless with a mermaid tail, only featuring bigger boobs and proportions similar to a Barbie doll. Although it was a stunning work of art inspired by Demi’s promo shot from her newest single “Body Say,” Demi had a hard time accepting that the drawing looked at all similar to her. She wrote two comments on the Instagram photo, saying QUOTE, “is that how my boobs should look?” and “it’s gorgeous but that’s not my body.”
The artist quickly fired back at Demi defending his artwork, writing in the same post, QUOTE, “If i make your waist slimmer and your boobs bigger to accentuate the fact that i drew you as a mermaid, a mythological creature, doesn’t mean I say that you should look like that or all girls should look like that. That’s how i imagine mermaids. I worked a lot on that drawing and i was proud of it, but not anymore @ddlovato.”
Vladimir’s response was also quick to catch the attention of many other Lovatics as some came to his defense, including what could possibly be a hint of subtle shade from none other than Camila Cabello. Shortly after Demi’s comment went viral, fans tied an Instagram photo Camila had posted featuring multiple fan art pieces with the caption, “a shout out to all the amazing and passionate artists out there. I can barely draw stick figures and look atchu doin yo thaaaang”.
Demi then tweeted a simple, “Remember where you came from.” This sparked responses from both Harmonizers and Lovatics, many writing messages like, “Demi made Fifth Harmony, Camila can sit down,” and many others posted opposing messages calling Demi ungrateful and rude.
Ok so I’ve clearly gotten enough tea for one Monday morning, but I’m curious to know all your thoughts on the sketch. Was Demi overreacting or did she kinda have a point?
