Demi Lovato is Cosmpolitan’s September cover girl and in it, she opens up about her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama and how her lyrical tone relates to Rihanna and Nicki Minaj.
In the issue Demi opens up giving details about her relationship with Wilmer and gets pretty personal sharing that Wilmer stayed by her side even when everyone told him not too.
Demi stuns on the September cover in a silver mini dress complete with a plunging neckline and a deep seam on the side that perfectly shows off her tattoo. In the spread she also rocks a long white dress with cutouts that accentuate her amazing figure.
In the interview, Demi opened up quite a bit about her relationship with Wilmer, admitting that the only times they broke up was when she was relapsing. She elaborated saying QUOTE – “whether it was drugs or in a bad place and rebelling against everybody, not just him… People say that relapses happen before you use. The times we’d broken up, I had already gone to that place of, Yeah, this is what’s happening. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I just wanted to sabotage everything around me so that I could sabotage myself.”
But despite the tough times, Demi said that Wilmer stuck by her side saying QUOTE - "We started dating when I turned 18… Right after that, I went to rehab. People told him, 'You should probably leave. She's on a spiral, and you're going to be sucked down with it.' But he was like, 'I'm not leaving. This is somebody I really care about.' We relate on a lot of levels.”
She also noted that Wilmer isn’t the jealous type either seeing that he’s actually friends with Demi’s ex Joe Jonas!
But aside from her love life, Demi also opened up about her style of music and the message she sends with her lyrics saying QUOTE - “There are a lot of girls in pop. They have badass lyrics, but I feel like I’m the only person other than Rihanna and Nicki Minaj who isn’t afraid to say, ‘Try something on me and I’ll f–king beat your ass.’ There are people who can dress up and play the part, but their music doesn’t say it.”
And she’s certainly kept the edgy theme going with her new single “Cool For the Summer.”
