And after the lyrics to the song were revealed during one of her listening parties, many fingers are pointing straight to Demi’s old Disney pal Miley Cyrus, so let the games begin…
What little we’ve heard so far on Demi’s new album Confident is shaping up to be a record we’ve never heard anything like because as Demi said herself, she is DONE with the sob stories y’all! In the new tune titled “Waiting For You” that is aimed to be throwing shade at Miley Cyrus, Demi sings alongside Sirah (who was featured in Skrillex’s ‘Bangarang’), to lyrics that not-so-subtly reiterate, well, to put it in simple terms, to NOT f*** with her.
In the new song, which Demi revealed relates to popstar-types and their Twitter feuds, the lyrics say QUOTE, “I won't back down, knuckles out, guard in my mouth, hungry for the next round, I'll be waiting for ya.” After Demi revealed last year that she and Miley are nothing more than acquaintances, we do have reason to believe that she is hinting at a fall-out between her and Miley in the past, BUT investigation is still underway.
Demi talked more about the song, saying "It shows a side of me I've never shown before, and that's 'Don't mess with me'. Let's just say not a lot of people try to pull that shit with me. But it's gonna happen. When you get two singers who both have 30 million fans it's inevitable."
She also pointed out that she doesn’t think female artists promote a “don’t mess with me” message enough in their music, but she did give a shout-out to “bad bitches” Rihanna and Nicki Minaj.
Demi has also talked about being envious of Miley’s non-stop partying lifestyle in the past, saying "Part of me was super jealous that I couldn't be like that. I had to look at my life and be like, 'OK, that's just not what you can do. There's no need to be bitter about it.’” She also opened up about Miley and Nicki Minaj’s public and non-scripted onstage VMA Feud, but never took a side, saying “It seemed to flow a little too well in to the next segment but she doesn’t look like she is messing around. You know what, it’s none of my business so I’m just going to play Switzerland."
So in the meantime while we wait for some type of Twitter war to break out, I want to know what you guys think about Demi’s lyrics to her new song; are they not specific enough or could Miley really be a key target?
