Ed Sheeran DENIES Fan Theory That Taylor Swift's "Dress" Is About Him

Swifties have come up with tons of theories about the subjects of Taylor Swift’s new songs, and now we can officially rule out the theory that ‘Dress’ is about one of her longtime besties, Ed Sheeran.
That’s right, you guys! Ever since Taylor Swift released her new album, Reputation, Fans’ antennae’s have been up as they’ve tried to decode who each song is about.
Unsurprisingly, Swifties have managed to come up with some pretty wild theories, but among the most shocking is the theory that “Dress,” which is without a doubt the sexiest song on the album, is actually about one of her absolute best friends, Ed Sheeran. WHAT?!
In the song, one lyric says, QUOTE, “I don’t want you like a best friend.” And pretty much everyone knows that Ed and Tay are BFF’s and have been FOREVER. So is this enough to determine that the song is about him? Um… we think not, and TBH, Ed doesn’t think it’s about him either!
On an Instagram Live session with a Singapore-based men’s lifestyle publication, August Man, Ed said, QUOTE, “I don’t think it is [about me]. I think if you read into it… it’s not… you know, because she mentions someone with a buzzcut haircut, and I’ve never had a buzzcut haircut.”
So who does have a buzzcut? Well, when TayTay and her current beau Joe Alwyn first met, he definitely sported the ‘do, and she had platinum blonde hair at the time, which was referenced in another lyric of the song, so we’re going to stick with our theory that it’s definitely about him!
Sorry Tay and Ed shippers, but it looks like you’re going to have to wait a little while longer, or like maybe, like, forever for a song about their AMAZING friendship. We know… we’re bummed about it too.
